Welcome West Virginia Teachers, Parents, and Students!The 2010 DanceDanceRevolution West Virginia State Championship takes place in the last half of the 2009/2010 Academic School Year in the State of West Virginia public schools. This year's tournament represents a great opportunity for teachers, parents, and students to show the entire State of West Virginia how everyone can stay health through fun and play! Welcome West Virginia Teachers, Parents, and Students!The 2010 DanceDanceRevolution West Virginia State Championship offers the chance for all participants to:
- Compete for the first ever State Championship
- Fight childhood obesity
- Compete for a $2,500.00 scholarship
- Show your school spirit
Tournament Age GroupsThe age divisions for the 2010 DanceDanceRevolution West Virginia State Championship tournament are:
- Elementary Division – Grades 3 through 5
- Middle School Division – Grades 6 through 8
- High School Division – Grades 9 through 12
Tournament SummaryHigh scores in every round determine the winner of each grade level. In rounds one the first and second place winners are invited to participate in the round two regional qualifiers. At each regional qualifier, the first and second place winners are invited to the state finals. During every round of the tournament tie scores force a tie-breaker round of play and continue until a winner has been determined by high score. Each division will compete against participants from the same grade level divisions. At the state finals, participants will compete for a grand prize of a $2,500.00 scholarship for each first place finisher in each age group.
Round One: School Based Qualifier Administered By TeachersRound one starts with each school Teachers and Designated Officials registering their school and signing up for tournament training. Round one will be conducted in each school and administered by school officials that have completed the online training process. Each school will select the times their school will participate -- within the designated time period -- and report the results of the qualifier tournament within the designated time period. All registration must be completed and if deemed necessary all parental consent for individual participants obtained prior to the start of all competition.
Round Two: Regional Qualifier Tournaments The round two regional qualifier tournaments will be held at five different locations across the State. These locations are being selected to allow for the easy participation by all participants. Round two tournaments will start with a single elimination round to identify the top 16 scores. The participants earning these scores will move on to compete in head-to-head play until there is a winner. The top two finishers from each round two tournament will be invited to the round three, finals.
Round Three: State Finals TournamentThe West Virginia State Championship, will be comprised of the first and second place winners from each round two regional qualifier. The State Championship Tournament begins with random seeding of players by division. Competition is head-to-head with best 2 out of 3 competition. The highest score from each division will be the official DanceDanceRevolution West Virginia State Champion of 2010. The State Finals are being held June 17, 2010 at the State Capitol.
Round Three: State Finals TournamentThe West Virginia State Championship, will be comprised of the first and second place winners from each round two regional qualifier.
