About DanceDanceRevolution and West VirginiaWelcome West Virginia Parents! Before proceeding, please note that registration is open to TEACHERS ONLY. Since 2004, the video game DanceDanceRevolution has had an impact on the health of West Virginia Public School Students through the West Virginia Games for Health Program. In the remainder of the 2009/2010 Academic School Year, the first DanceDanceRevolution West Virginia State Championship Tournament will reward those schools utilizing DanceDanceRevolution as part of their physical education program, energize the overall program statewide, and encourage new participation from schools not yet enrolled. In partnership with Konami Digital Entertainment, the 2010 DanceDanceRevolution West Virginia State Championship Tournament offers the students of West Virginia with an exciting fun filled statewide competition all while promoting healthy kids. There are no special skills, uniforms, or equipment required your child to participate. They just their enthusiasm to take part. Why Should Your Child Take Part In The Tournament?The 2010 DanceDanceRevolution West Virginia State Championship provides your child with the opportunity to::

- Compete for the State Championship
- Increase their fitness through game play
- Win a $2,500 scholarship

School EligibilityIt all starts in your child’s school. Your child's school is eligible if it has already received training from West Virginia Games for Health. If your child's school is eligible and if the school completes registration, the round one qualifier tournament will be held during March, 2010 and early April, 2010. The two high scores from each round one qualifier will be invited to participate in the round two regional qualifier tournaments. The two high scores from each round two will be invited to participate in round three, the State Finals.

Age GroupingThe 2010 DanceDanceRevolution West Virginia State Championship takes place in the last half of the 2009/2010 Academic School Year in the State of West Virginia public schools. The tournament will take place between February 1, 2010 and late June, 2010. The age divisions for the 2010 tournament are:
- Elementary Division – Grades 3 through 5

- Middle School Division – Grades 6 through 8

- High School Division – Grades 9 through 12
About The TournamentQualifier tournaments will be held in your child's school during school hours and presided over by the teacher who has already been trained by West Virginia Games for Health. That teacher will receive additional training in order to administer the tournament through this program. If your child is one of the top two finishers from round one, they are eligible to participate in round two. Should your child advance from round two to round three, they are eligible to participate in round three, the State Finals. At the State Finals, the winners from each age division will be awarded a $2,500.00 Scholarship.

How To RegisterIn order for your child to participate the following criteria must be met:

- Your child's school must be eligible based on the Official Rules.

- Your child's school must register to participate according to the Official Rules.

- Your child must finish either FIRST or SECOND in Round One of the Tournament (for more information on the tournament, please visit the tournament information page.

- Upon finishing either first or second, your school will notify you of your child's eligibility

- You must complete the Parent/Legal Guardian Consent Form provided to you by your child's school

- Upon receipt of the parental release you will be contacted by Tournament Administrators regarding the time, date, and location of the round two tournament your child is eligible for
